A new, state-of-the-art PET/CT has come into operation at the Monaldi Hospital in Naples, a technology that promises to make a difference in the early detection and monitoring of numerous diseases, in particular oncology and cardiology.
The equipment, purchased thanks to an investment of almost EUR 4 million from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), enriches the technological heritage of the Nuclear Medicine Complex Operational Unit, already a reference point for the metropolitan area and beyond.
PET/TC is a tool that combines the precision of positron emission tomography (PET) with that of computed tomography (CT), allowing detailed images to be obtained that help doctors detect diseases at an early stage and accurately assess the effectiveness of therapies. Thanks to this new installation, patients will be able to rely on faster, safer and more reliable tests, reducing waiting times and increasing the quality of care.
The intervention is part of the mission of the NRRP dedicated to the modernisation of health technologies and facilities, with the aim of making Italian hospitals more efficient and ready to face the challenges of modern medicine. For Monaldi, one of the excellences of healthcare in Campania, this innovation represents not only a step forward in terms of diagnostics, but also a signal of attention to the needs of patients and the work of the professionals who work there every day.
