To define the new innovation strategies of the European Union and its territories, Antoaneta Angelova-Krasteva, Director for Innovation, Digital Education and International Cooperation of the European Commission, visited the San Giovanni Campus of the Federico II University of Naples.

Together with Valeria Fascione, Regional Councillor for Research, Innovation and Start-ups, Giorgio Ventre, Scientific Director of the Apple Academy, Simon Pietro Romano, Scientific Director of the CyberHackademy and Valeria Costantino, ERASMUS Programme Delegate, the Director visited the Apple Academy’s premises, experiencing first-hand what the European Union’s regional cohesion policy can do in the territories.

The integration of resources has made it possible to attract large global ICT companies to Naples and attract young people from all over the world who are committed to designing and discovering new technological solutions.

Among the challenges, beyond attracting talent, is retaining the brightest minds to enable the whole community to progress. This is a theme very much felt by Councillor Fascione, who in recent years has supported, through the use of European funds, the development of numerous startups and innovative companies that have made Campania the region with the best performance in Italy on innovation issues (Regional Innovation Scoreboard 2025).
