This morning the first of the 139 ecological school buses that the Campania Region, with a total investment of 39 million euros, through the PR FESR 2021-27, has made available to the Campania municipalities with a population of less than 15 thousand inhabitants for the transport service of students of primary and secondary schools of first degree.
The new 7.6-metre-long electric-powered vehicles are equipped with the latest safety and comfort systems, including an electro-hydraulic lift on the rear door and a dedicated wheelchair transport area with quick-release seats. The transport capacity is 29 student seats, without wheelchair, or 24 student seats, with wheelchair on board.
The initiative aims to increase the standards of environmental sustainability, comfort and safety for small travellers by simplifying access to education services and improving the reconciliation of living and working time for families.
During the meeting with the administrators, the programme contract was also signed between ACaMIR – Agenzia Campana Mobilità Infrastrutture e Reti, which is the implementing body of the Campania Region, Iveco SpA and the municipalities benefiting from the European funding action for the 139 ecological school buses.
