The fourth edition of the contest BEYOND THE GHETTO is underway

Beyond the Ghetto back with its fourth edition to give voice to those who every day build concrete alternatives to the labour exploitation of migrants. The initiative is promoted under the Su.Pr.Eme.2 programme – Sud Protagonist in overcoming emergencies. The programme is funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) 2021-2027. NAP Inclusion and combating poverty ESF+ 2021-2027. The partnership is led by the Sicilian Region, flanked by the Regions Basilicata, Calabria, Campania and Puglia and Nova Consorzio Nazionale per l’Innovazione sociale.

The initiative aims to tackle corporatisation and forms of labour exploitation of migrants through storytelling, illustration and journalism. The contest is divided into four sections, with prize money, video reporting and wide national coverage.

The contest includes 4 sections:

  • Ethical companies. For companies and micro-enterprises that promote sustainable economic practices and labour inclusion of migrants.
    Deadline: 19 October 2025
  • Stories of Freedom. For social organizations and institutions that tell personal experiences of emancipation and redemption of migrant workers
    Deadline: 19 October 2025
  • Illustration. For creatives, graphic designers and illustrators who want to create a manifesto on the themes of decent work, contrast to the caporalato and the ethical chain
    Deadline: 23 November 2025
  • Journalist Award. For journalists who have produced articles, reports, podcasts or audiovisual services on the themes of the contest
    Deadline: 23 November 2025

Prizes

  • The experiences selected in the Ethical Companies and Freedom Stories sections will become professional video reports, disseminated at national level on the official project channels and on the platform www.oltreilghetto.org
  • 2.500€ for the winner of the Ethical Companies section (according to the preferences collected online)
  • 2.500€ for the winner of the Freedom Stories section (according to the preferences collected online)
  • 1.000€ for the winner of the Illustration section
  • 1.000€ for the winner of the journalistic prize section

  1. Choose the section of your interest.
  2. Download and read the rules.
  3. Fill out the online form within the deadline.
  4. Send the requested documentation to Oltreilghetto@supremeitalia.org.
  5. Receive confirmation of your application.
