On 15 October, the P.I.U.Su.Pr.Eme project was presented at the REGIOSTARS Awards ceremony in the Belgian capital as part of the 23rd European Week of Regions and Cities, the European Union’s annual event dedicated to cohesion policies.

The project co-financed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies – Directorate-General for Immigration and Integration Policies and the European Union through the NOP Inclusion European Social Fund 2014-2020, active from 2019 to 2023 in the five regions of southern Italy (Apulia, Sicily, Calabria, Campania and Basilicata) to combat caporalato and the exploitation of migrant workers, was one of the finalists of the 2025 edition of the REGIOSTARS Awards, held every year by the European Commission, in the section ‘A social and inclusive Europe’.

Through P.I.U.Su.Pr.Eme. housing programs, transport facilitation, civic-linguistic and specialized training programs for work have been launched. This made it possible to finally restore dignity to the workers exploited in the fields and in other sectors and finally overcoming the barriers that stood between workers and communities.

P.I.U.Su.Pr.Eme. is one of only two fully Italian partnership projects (the other being Nawamed and competing in the ‘Green Europe’ section).
For the Campania Region, the partnership is supported by UOD 60 09 07 ‘Programming, planning and inclusion pathways in the field of immigration’, which is also involved in other European inclusion projects such as ‘Powgen’ – Power Generation. Powgen is a European project funded by the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund, whose main objective is to strengthen the integration of third-country nationals into the European labour market through sustainable employment opportunities in the renewable energy and construction sectors.
