The European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) is the European Union’s financial instrument for promoting sustainable fisheries and innovative and responsible aquaculture.
Through concrete instruments and dedicated resources, the EMFAF supports actors in the sector, ensuring the development, competitiveness and protection of the marine environment by contributing to policy objectives 2 and 5 (a greener and closer Europe to citizens) of cohesion policy.
For Italy, a single national programme (EMFAF NP) covering the programming period from 2021 to 2027 was approved in 2022.
The EMFAF NAP for the coordinated implementation of interventions operates through a multi-regional agreement between the Managing Authority and the Intermediate Bodies, with the related allocation of resources between Regions and Autonomous Provinces.
