The Campania Regional Councillor for Legality, Immigration and Security, Mario Morcone, participated in the workshop dedicated to the partnership between Campania, Puglia, Calabria, Basilicata and Sicily, which gave rise to actions to overcome emergencies in the context of serious exploitation and serious marginalisation of foreigners regularly present.
The meeting, held at the European Committee of the Regions as part of the European Week of Regions and Cities, focused on the outcomes of the project. Su.Pr.Eme – Italy, supported by the European Cohesion Policy*, with which the five regions of southern Italy have developed a plan of measures to combat and overcome forms of severe labour exploitation, corporatism and situations of serious marginality/vulnerability experienced by foreign workers present in the territories of the Mezzogiorno.
“With the project – said Morcone – we have intercepted and supported the reasons of 17,000 people, we have involved over 150 third sector organisations, helping people to get in touch with the Public Administration and receive its services, such as access to the health service and social security”.
