The Campania District was inaugurated in the presence of the President of the Campania Region.Audiovisual – Digital and Creative Animation Hub, the new home of the Campania film and audiovisual industry, housed within theformer Nato Base of Bagnoli, in Naples.
An ambitious project that transforms a symbolic place of urban regeneration into a dedicated multifunctional hub production, training and technological innovation, with the aim of consolidating Campania as one of the most dynamic regions in the Italian audiovisual sector.
The District was created as part of the strategy launched with the Regional Cinema Law No. 30 of 2016, which redesigned the audiovisual support and promotion system in Campania, strengthening the role of the Film Commission Campania Region as an engine for the development, promotion and coordination of the sector.
The implementation of the project is supported by a total investment of almost €60 million, largely from the Development and Cohesion Fund (DCF) 2021–2027 and from ESF+ Regional Programme 2021–2027.
The first part opened – approx. 2,500 square meters – It is home to three key operational areas.
The Cineport offers temporary workspaces for productions: offices, casting rooms, tailoring workshops and directing areas.
Alongside this, a large co-working area welcomes students and professionals in the sector, with equipped stations, screening rooms and educational meetings.
Finally, comes to life the ‘Francesco Rosi’ Regional Audiovisual School, dedicated to the great master of civic engagement cinema, the first public school in Southern Italy entirely free of charge, created to train the new professionals in the sector.
Courses and Masters, both annual and specialist, will cover all segments of the supply chain: from directing to creative writing, from production to post-production, to animation and scenography, with technologically advanced workshops and an interdisciplinary approach based on direct experience.
In the next few years the district will expand with new spaces and infrastructure, including one scenographic pole, one Cine-Theatre for educational and visual research activities, and a reservoir for water shooting in Salerno – one of the three most advanced in Europe – which will make Campania a point of reference for national and international productions.
With over 15,000 square meters of total area, the Campania Audiovisual District will become a true creative hub in the Mediterranean, able to combine training, production and innovation in a single platform at the service of the cultural industry.
