As part of the Campania Region’s participation in the Osaka Expo 2025, at the Italian Pavilion, the Campania Region’s Department of Productive Activities organised a collective mission of 13 Campania companies operating in the sectors of excellence in Aerospace, Automotive, Precision Mechanics, Industrial Automation, Logistics, Fashion, Leather Goods and Fashion Accessories.
Campania is one of the most dynamic regions in the panorama of national exports, occupying the seventh position by value of Italian exports to Japan. In 2024, the region exported goods worth a total of €21.7 billion, representing €3.5 billion.% total Italian exports. This performance places Campania in an important position in the national production system, with an export weight of 17.1% of regional GDP.
The analysis of exports from Campania to Japan reveals a panorama of significant opportunities in a strategic market for the internationalisation of Italian companies.
The key sectors that characterize this business relationship, in addition to agri-food, include manufacturing, with particular emphasis on leather and clothing, while space is strong for products from Aerospace, Automotive, Precision Mechanics and Industrial Automation. These manufacturing sectors show very encouraging dynamics and could receive an important boost from export promotion policies..
For these reasons, the Campania Region, in collaboration with theECI: Italian Trade Agency (ITA), Italian Government Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalisation of Italian companies, Promos Italy, the national agency of the Italian Chamber of Commerce system for the internationalisation of companies, organised, in conjunction with the week of Campania at the Osaka Expo (20-30 July 2025), a commercial mission involving 8 companies operating in the Aerospace/Automotive/Precision Mechanics sector and 5 companies active in the Logistics/Fashion/Fashion Accessories/Fashion Leather Goods sector.
The presentation of the collective and the participants took place on 28 July at the Italian Pavilion at the Expo in Osaka. The meeting was attended by the Director of the Commissariat General of Section for Italy for Expo 2025 in Osaka Andrea Marin, the Director of the Campania Region – Directorate-General for Economic Development and Productive Activities Sergio Mazzarella, the Director of the Tokyo ECI Office Gianpaolo Bruno. With them Chiara Bisacco the EBA – Advanced Business Events and Giovanni Rossi, Director Promos Italia, who presented the calendar of meetings that companies will support.
The companies, divided into groups by product categories, will carry out, from 29 to 31 July, visits, seminars and B2B meetings.
Companies in the Aerospace, Automotive, Precision Mechanics and Industrial Automation sectors will have the opportunity to carry out seminars, B2B meetings and company visits with some Japanese institutional and business entities, including the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) – Kansai Regional Office, the HORIBA company (automotive sector), the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Mitsubishi Motors Plant in Kyoto and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Defense and Space segment), Avex Factory (precision mechanics), the ANA Strategic Research Institute (Aeronautical Industry Cluster Research) and Nissan Motor, Software Defined Vehicle Development Division.
