Launch of the third edition of the notice Campania Startup – 2023 year – for the creation and consolidation of innovative knowledge-intensive startups, through the development of new innovative products, processes and services in line with the priority trajectories of the “Regional Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation – RIS3 Campania’.
The aim of this instrument is to continue to support the competitiveness of the regional territory by supporting innovative start-ups in the growth process that can ensure their medium- to long-term sustainability and stimulate the emergence of new business ideas. The notice is, in fact, addressed both to innovative start-ups already established and operating in the RIS3 Campania Specialisation Areas and to natural persons wishing to promote a new business project.
Among the central elements of the notice:
- Innovativeness and Proximity to the Market – The projects to be financed must have a high degree of innovation and be on the market within 12 months at the latest.
- Investments – the minimum investment must be EUR 70 000 with a contribution of not less than EUR 50 000. The maximum contribution will be 350,000 euros for an investment of a maximum amount of 500,000 euros.
- Aid intensity – the intensity is 70% of eligible expenditure, where the eligible expenditure is equal to or less than EUR 100 000, the intensity shall be increased to 80 %;% of eligible expenditure.
- Rewardability – will be assessed with an additional score on the Ability of the project to create new jobs: the importance of the presence in the team of young people and/or women, the location of the initiative in one of the Inland areas of Campania (SNAI 2021-2027).
The expected impacts are:
- the economic valorisation of research results,
- Enlargement of the base of innovative startup,
- increase qualified employment,
- technological progress on the strategic areas of the Smart Specialisation Strategy: Aerospace, Agritech, Biotechnology and Human Health, Cultural Heritage – Tourism and Creative Industry, Energy – Environment and Sustainable Construction, Advanced Materials and Nanotechnologies, ICT Enabling Technologies, Transport and Logistics, Blue Growth, Fashion and Design.
Over the last 5 years, Campania has achieved significant results in the field of research, innovation and start-ups, becoming one of the most dynamic regions at national level: first region by rate of Youth Entrepreneurship (7,7%, versus national average 5,6%), third region for innovative startup with over 1420 startups, with growth of +455 since July 2015%, second region for certified incubators (7). Naples and Salerno are included in the ranking of Top 10 cities by number of innovative startups.
