The day after the presentation of the Regional Programme Campania ERDF 2021 – 2027  representatives of the European Commission – DG Regio, Lucio Paderi (disambiguation) e by Stefano Lambertucci carried out, together with the Managing Authority of the Campania Region Programme, Sergio Negro (disambiguation), an on-the-spot visit to the city of Caserta to see some of the operations in the context of the Integrated Sustainable City Program (P.I.C.S.)

The choice to go to the city of the Palace was determined by the desire to confront the mayor Carlo Marino on the progress of the works financed by the ROP Campania ERDF 2014-2020 and to evaluate with the first citizen, also by virtue of his position as regional president of theNational Association of Municipalities (ANCI) for which he also plays the role of national deputy coordinator with responsibility for the South, the possible actions to be implemented to ensure that the funds allocated by the new programming to the Territorial Development Strategies can have the greatest possible impact in improving the lives of the communities for which they are intended.

Two, essentially, are the crucial issues that have emerged in order to make the most of the resources made available by the European Union and allocated to the municipalities by the Campania Region’s programming. Increased administrative capacity of local authorities and the establishment of a steering committee that can share good practices in order to overcome the bureaucratic difficulties that municipalities may encounter during the implementation of the programme.

Recruitment, training and shared vision, therefore, could help local administrations to make the best use of territorial development opportunities and on these points the Program of the European Regional Development Fund of Campania 21-27 provides for investments and a New Urban Development Strategy that shifts the center of gravity from the middle cities to the urban clusters, prioritising projects that can affect larger communities, reverberating the benefits outside the city walls.

The Region is working on this point to ensure that the programming that has just started can be increasingly incisive and performing and make the Campania closer to citizens Responding effectively to one of the Priority challenges of Cohesion Policy redesigning the fabric of existing territorial networks, enhancing the territorial strategies promoted by urban authorities, large areas and internal areas and promoting a broad sharing of the local socio-economic partnership in identifying the main interventions of the strategies.
