The Vallo di Diano area consists of 15 municipalities, all in the province of Salerno and all falling under the category ‘inland areas’. The 75% It is made up of small municipalities and does not exceed the threshold of 5,000 inhabitants. This is an area with a resident population of 56,268 as of 2024. The figures show a further decrease in the number of people in the last four years (2020-2024) of – 1,051. The evolution of the overall population of Vallo di Diano from 2011 to 2024, showing a gradual decline. The population was 60,137 in 2011, decreased to 56,557 in 2020 and further decreased to 56,268 in 2024. Expanding the comparison matrix and passing the ten-year analysis, in detail the last thirteen years (2011-2024), the situation appears objectively complex, if not dramatic, with a population loss of -3.869. This negative trend indicates a constant loss of population over time, probably due to factors such as declining births, emigration or an ageing population.
