The President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, inaugurated, together with the director Claudio Gubitosi, the 53rd edition of the Giffoni Film Festival. Addressing the young jurors, the President wanted to underline the importance of a film festival dedicated to them that is able to spread a message of tolerance, inclusiveness and diversity, uniting young people from many countries. "Concepts that together make up the word Peace", added President De Luca, recalling the conflict in Ukraine and relaunching the ceasefire This has been requested by the Region since 28 October.
A message to which was added that of Pope Francis who during the Angelus greeted the young people of Giffoni and that of the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola who intervened at the inauguration with a video message where she invited the Giffoners to have fun and ask questions remembering that “the European Union is not perfect, on the contrary. The world is changing and we cannot be afraid of change. This is why Europe needs your participation, to regain the sense of hope and possibility that the European Union offers.” – concluded Metsola.
President De Luca also wished to recall the importance of European cohesion policies in creating development to reduce the gaps between territories and create a future for the younger generation, and for this reason he once again called on the government to unlock the resources needed for Campania to make the necessary investments.
Entertaining with the press, the President also recalled the Region’s commitment to the psychological well-being of young people in the region and investments in the audiovisual sector for the cinema hub in Naples (Bagnoli).
