The Campania Region, through the resources of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF Campania ROP), has established the Regional Fund for Growth Campania.
A tool to support the competitiveness of the Campania production system that has made resources available to small and micro enterprises and freelancers to improve, through the restructuring, rationalisation and modernisation of production plants and processes, market positioning, also promoting the energy and digital transition.
Through the Regional Fund for Growth Campania, managed by the in-house company of the Campania Region, Campania Development, have been 2,282 companies and 490 professionals receive more than €273 million in resources to carry out actions in the following areas:
- Digitalization and Industry 4.0, tangible and intangible investments to support the processes of reorganization and restructuring of production for the transition 4.0;
- Social and environmental safety and sustainability, investments aimed at increasing the company’s environmental and social performance by ensuring the health and safety of operators;
- New organizational models, investments aimed at the reorganisation of business processes through the introduction of new management solutions, plants and equipment aimed at increasing productivity and economic performance.
The benefits were granted in the form of mixed financial instrument, covering 100% of the eligible expenditure programme and broken down into 50% by way of non-repayable contribution e 50% by way of zero-interest financing.

The measure supported companies throughout Campania with a fairly homogeneous territorial distribution of companies and professionals, reflecting the regional distribution and population density.

As regards the choice of the type of eligible interventions, the business system has mainly used the measure to digitise its production processes, also according to the Industry 4.0 paradigms.

The companies are working to complete the projects funded by the Campania Region with the contribution of the European Union and improve their performance. This should lead to long-term competitive advantages for the Campanian business system, helping it to overcome the negative impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic first, and the conflict in Ukraine later.
