For a smarter Campania, it will be essential to promote research and the competitiveness of the regional economic system by supporting the conversion of the production system and the setting up of innovative businesses. The aim will be to create research centres capable of addressing the challenges posed by globalisation: health, circular economy and climate change.

The Campania Region’s lines of action in relation to Policy Objective 1 are:

  • Strengthen and redevelop the innovation and exchange processes of the regional production system and research.
  • Stimulate technology transfer and support the uptake and potential of the regional innovation ecosystem.
  • Promote the birth and consolidation of innovative startups and research spin-offs.
  • Creating Innovation Hubs.
  • Develop open innovation environments.
  • Support research activities and innovation culture in the Aerospace, Defence and Security (AD&S) sector by setting the conditions for its stability and growth.
  • Building long, stable and cooperative research networks at Community level.
  • Promote international R&I cooperation and the international mobility of human capital to and from abroad.
  • Promote research for the development of sustainable innovative solutions.
  • Promoting culture also through digitisation.
  • Accelerate the digital transition of the mobility ecosystem and step up efforts towards Intelligent Transport/Transportation Systems (ITS).
  • Investing in innovation and smartness of cities, understood as the ability to intelligently use the possibilities offered by technology to solve problems by improving the well-being of citizens.
  • Promote new market opportunities, including through the evolution of traditional industries into digitally oriented industries.
  • Promote the competitive repositioning of areas affected by industrial crises.
  • Promote the development of human capital.
  • Promote the use of frontier Internet of Things (IoT) and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) technologies.
  • Support the creation of innovative goods and services that – with a view to enhancing the distinctive skills present in the technological-productive domains identified by RIS3 Campania – are able to allow a more effective and efficient management of regional social emergencies, including: mobility, safety, energy efficiency, integrated waste management, human health, school, justice.
