The Campania Region will realize, also with funds of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, an investment of more than EUR 380 million for the development of a new model of territorial health closer to the needs of the citizen and with structures throughout the regional territory.

The involvement of the seven local health companies has made it possible to identify 100 properties to be renovated to adapt them to the new services. 33 new buildings will be built.

The new territorial health in Campania provides for the construction of 169 Community Houses, 45 Community Hospitals and 58 Territorial Operational Centers.

The Community Houses are multi-purpose structures of primary and specialized care able to also provide social and health services. In the Community Houses, citizens, assisted by multidisciplinary teams of doctors, nurses and other health professionals, will be able to carry out diagnostic tests such as electrocardiogram and spirometry, perform diabetes screening and cancer screening, receive vaccines and take samples.

Community Hospitals are short-term care facilities designed to assist individuals requiring low-intensity care. They will reduce access to emergency rooms and facilitate discharges protected by regional hospitals. Doctors, nurses and health and social workers will work in Community hospitals. Each hospital will have an average capacity of 20 beds and will be equipped with a basic diagnostic instrumentation that will allow, for example, to carry out cardiological and haematological examinations, ultrasounds and respiratory function tests.

The Territorial Operations Centers will coordinate the health services of the region. Innovative and technologically advanced, they will improve monitoring and the link between services and professionals in territorial, health, social and health care and hospital care.

All the territories of the Campania Region will benefit from the investment. A health network will be developed: homogeneous, capillary and interconnected.

A “framework agreement” will be published involving economic operators, businesses and professionals, in the renovation and upgrading of the structures of the new territorial health model. The Program will be completed within three years.

The new territorial health of the Campania Region will allow to: increasing and speeding up assistance; modernising and digitising the system; ensure equal access to care for all citizens of Campania.
