“Today we come to Milan with our heads held high. We are presenting a Masterplan that represents a dynamic Campania region anchored in Europe. A modern redevelopment and experimentation project to achieve our basic goal: create jobs. Building the foundations for safe, healthy and sustainable development”. With these words the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, commented on the presentation of the Masterplan of the Domitio-Flegreo coast held at Spazio Campania in Milan.
The meeting was attended, in addition to President De Luca, by urban planner Andreas Kipar, Councillor for Urban Planning and the Government of the Region of Campania Bruno Discepolo, Pierfrancesco Maran Councillor for Urban Planning of the Municipality of Milan and Andrea Prete, President of Unioncamere Campania. The Plan, supported by the European Regional Development Fund, contains strategies for the territorial, environmental and social regeneration of fourteen municipalities, of which four in the province of Naples (Bacoli, Giugliano in Campania, Monte di Procida and Pozzuoli), and ten in the province of Caserta (Cancello and Arnone, Carinola, Castel Volturno, Cellole, Falciano del Massico, Francolise, Mondragone, Parete, Sessa Aurunca and Villa Literno). It covers a total area of about 741.47 sq km (5.42% of the regional territory) and a resident population of over 370 thousand inhabitants. Landscapes of great beauty, rich in significant historical archaeological presences: the monumental remains of the Phlegraean area, the extensive pine forest, the Volturno and Agnena rivers, the Massico area up to the northern regional border marked by the Garigliano.
