By Decision No 148 of 21 March 2023, the Regional Executive activated the Ufita Valley Masterplan with a target area for the territories of the municipalities of:
Ariano Irpino, Bonito, Flumeri, Frigento, Gesualdo, Grottaminarda, Melito Irpino, Montaguto, Savignano Irpino, Sturno, Villanova del Battista.
A buffer area is integrated into the target area in accordance with specific development guidelines (ecological and landscape, heritage, production) which includes all the municipalities of the Association of Municipalities of Ufita, Calore, Miscano and Cervaro not included in the target area referred to in the previous point, namely:
Carife, Casalbore, Castel Baronia, Fontanarosa, Greci, Luogosano, Mirabella Eclano, Montecalvo Irpino, Paternopoli, San Nicola Baronia, San Sossio Baronia, Sant’Angelo all’Esca, Scampitella, Taurasi, Trevico, Vallesaccarda, Zungoli.
The strategic lines identified for the development of this area are:
– Rehabilitation and completion of the road transport network in order to implement connections with the new Hirpinia station;
– Redevelopment and innovation of the production system and the manufacturing system, including through the upgrading of the present SEZ area and the regeneration of underused or abandoned industrial areas and sites;
– Strengthening policies that contribute to reducing the phenomenon of population decline;
– Environmental regeneration and enhancement aimed at landscaping and reducing hydrogeological risk;
– Reinforcement and upgrading of the agricultural and livestock supply chain system aimed at enhancing the value of products of territorial agricultural excellence;
– Urban regeneration aimed at urban regeneration of the area identified and promotion of measures to enhance and make use of the cultural and natural heritage;
– Strengthening and innovating the administrative system so that measures can be implemented more quickly and effectively.
On 3 May 2023, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the municipalities concerned.
By Presidential Decree No 95 of 18 September 2023, the Heads of the Steering Committee and the Technical Coordination Committee were appointed.
