The integrated water cycle in Campania was the focus of the last day of the States General on the Environment, held at the Naples Maritime Station, as part of the Green Med Symposium promoted by Ecomondo and Ricicla.tv.

The water resource plays a central role for the well-being of people, of the agri-food system and of the industrial one, for this reason the Campania Region is engaged in projects of modernization of the distribution and supply networks and of depollution.

During the day, introduced by the Vice-President, with responsibility for the Environment, Fulvio Bonavitacola and concluded by the Chair Vincenzo De Luca Attention was focused on a number of aspects.

One of the main challenges facing the Region could not be missed by the States-General for the Environment in Campania on the day when the issue of water was discussed: the environmental redevelopment of the Sarno river. The Director-General of the Office of Major Works – Campania Region, Sergio Negro (disambiguation), represented the complex strategy in place. The Region is working on three fronts, reducing the hydraulic risk by cleaning embankments, seabeds and rolling pools; depollution with the elimination of direct discharges into the river and with the construction of floating barriers to remove waste and purification with the completion of collecting systems and the connection of all water in purification plants that will be adapted and enhanced.

In his conclusion, President De Luca wanted to make a precise reference to the role that water will have on the democratic sustainability of the planet, specifying that medium, long and very long-term political actions are necessary for water resources.  A call for political action that must be able to anticipate what will be the needs of the territory to improve and ensure the supply of public water to citizens, businesses and farmers; convey and collect all wastewater to sustainable purification plants, which also allows full bathing of the coasts; be able to manage critical issues through agile structures, including regulatory ones.
