A competitive and smart Europe promotes innovative and smart economic transformation and regional ICT connectivity.

The Single Market is at the heart of the European project by allowing people, services, goods and capital to move freely, providing opportunities for European businesses and more choice and lower prices for consumers. It allows citizens to travel, live, work or study wherever they want. In general, it enables European cities and regions to strengthen their integration into the European Union. The main objective is to provide a smooth Single Market
where companies of all sizes and in all sectors can compete on a level playing field and can develop, market and use digital technologies, products and services so as to increase their productivity and global competitiveness, and where consumers can be sure that their rights are protected. Through the Single Market, the European Union is committed to strengthening its position in the global market, to becoming a global digital actor and to providing a fair and competitive digital economy, as set out in the European Digital Strategy “A Europe fit for the digital age”. The EU’s digital strategy aims to make this transformation work for people and businesses while achieving its objective of a climate-neutral Europe by 2050.
