Architect Stefano Boeri presented the preliminary design of the Masterplan for the enhancement of the Salerno South Coast, at the former SAIM Tobacco Factory in Capaccio Paestum. The meeting was attended by the Councillor for the Government of the Region of Campania Bruno Discepolo, the Delegate of the President of the Regional Executive for the Masterplan, Franco Alfieri, and the mayors of the target area (Agropoli, Bellizzi, Battipaglia, Capaccio Paestum, Castellabate, Eboli, Pontecagnano Faiano, Salerno) and representatives of the Province of Salerno. The President of the Campania Region intervened by videoconference.
The Masterplan for the enhancement of the coast south of Salerno is the second strategic phase of the development and redevelopment plan for the Campania coast launched by the Region with Regional Executive Decision No 301/2016 (the first intervention in the domitio – phlegrea area) and is characterised as an intervention programme for the coast between the municipalities of Salerno and Castellabate (over 50 km of coast), in line with the general strategies dictated by the RDP for the Complex Territorial Field No 6 ‘Salerno Coast’, representing a unique opportunity for the enhancement of a territory with extraordinary environmental and tourist potential.
